By The Chapel - Bronikov (1858)

Writer's picture: Eileen DaraEileen Dara

What I love about Bronikov’s work is the peace this painting gives the admirer. The soft pink clouds, enlightened by the first rays of the sun on a warm summer day, make the setting look so tranquil and picturesque. The warm-weather clothed man, women and children on the foreground performing their daily actions make everything look so comfortable and easy. The composition is rather relaxed, we cannot point out any dynamical actions, I believe this was Bronikov’s purpose: creating a soft, peaceful piece of art to warm the admirers’ hearts. Today, we can find his work in the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.
