Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, Marquis of Dalí de Púbol was a Spanish surrealist artist. Born in Figueres, Catalonia, Dalí was a skilled draftsman, best known for the striking and bizarre images in his work. His painterly skills are often attributed to the influence of Renaissance masters. Dali frequently depicted his beloved sister Anna. What I love about this portrait is the cubistic shapes that form Anna’s face and the choice of bright colours. The beautiful blue of Anna’s dress makes me think of a sky full of clouds. The way shades of this kind of blue come back in the painting of the house in the background and the lavish sea is extraordinary.
