Mountainous Landscape with Figures - de Hondecoeter

What a shame that so little is know about Flemmish painter Gilles Claes d’Hondecoeter and his “Mountainous Landscape with Figures”. Famous or not, I believe this work is absol stunning for the realistic (for its shape) and at the same time (for its beautiful brownish colour) way the rocks are depicted. I haven’t seen rocks painted in this way ever before.
