A significant place in the work of Cranach took the image of the Mother of God. The painting “Virgin and Child”, created in the 1920s, came to be damaged: the lower and right parts of the composition, depicting a gazebo entwined with grapes, were lost. The image of the Madonna acquired majesty from Cranach. She is enclosed in the high humanity of Mary, in her maternal love, soft femininity and spirituality.
